I scanned the back so you can see the date, but it is very faint.

install by date does that mean that it wont work because it is out of date?

That's the date put on by the manufacturer. I've used several with the October 2008 date and they worked fine for me. I traded in the printer when I bought a new one, so I don't have use for them anymore.
