The listing, "Authentic" 18th Century Rag Doll (handmade) has ended.
This is a 18th century rag doll, like the ones children would have played with. My daughter makes these for a local historic site to sell in their gift shop. They sell like mad!!! This is one we didn't take with us when we dropped off our last batch. We have volunteered at the Governor John Sevier home, Marble Springs Tennessee for almost 5 years now. These dolls would have been made of scraps of fabric that were too small to be of any use for anything else. Probably from fabric that had had many lives as other useful items, such as curtains, clothing, rags, and dishcloths. When the items were no longer sturdy enough to be recycled into another household item, they were used to make toys for the children. This doll sports a period bonnet and apron.
