Looks to small to be a hat pin. Hat pins didn't come with a cover on the point because in the Old West they could transform as weapons if a Lady needed something fast. Looks like it might be a stick pin like what was worn on blouses. It's beautiful though.

My friend made me quite a few of these. They are too long and big to be a stuck pin for a blouse. I think they are supposed to look like the old hat pins to place in the old glass holder. The beads are too new to be considered old.
