why does it have a 9 on the bottom if you say they are 8?

That's a good question! The size of the shoe is embossed on the bottom and someone wrote what looks like 9p which I have know idea what that means! These are def size 8 but could be worn if you were 81/2 and size 9 (my size) can wear these also but my toes go right to the edge. I hope all this helps!!!
