The listing, 2 vintage metal flower frogs has ended.

The base of each measures 1 1/2" across. I believe, but can't be certain that the base of both is lead. The spikes are metal. Both in good used condition.

You would use putty on the bottom of these, put in the bottom of your vase, push down on it to attached solidly to the bottom of vase. When you put your cut flowers in the vase, you want to make sure that the bottom of the stem is situated down on the prickly top side of the flower frog. In short, they are used to arrange flowers in a vase.
