Yes its actually a red seal $2 us note. Much different than a silver cert but very cool. Check this site out for history on it. http://www.coinsite.com/content/articles/redsealstory.asp
My father had two of these in his shirt pocket when he was shot in the chest 6 times and killed when I was 18 months old. They actually had blood stains on them. My mom gave them to me right before she died when I was 19. I wish I had enough credits to bid. A guy I dated a LONG time ago took them out of my box and spent them on , let's just say not good stuff :( Wishing I had more credits or the money to but more. GREAT auction. Sorry for the personal story there ... Just seeing this made me tear up. fanned!!
I am truly sorry to hear that and I know how that is too. I have had my share of coins and bills that I have been collecting over the years just disappear too. Thank you, I fanned you back.
I think you would get a lot of credits for it on listia but as far as anything else I couldnt because I have not seen it. I know the better the condition, the least amount of creases or any special markings makes them more valuable like silver certificate, different colored seals etc..
I fanned you back. I have to agree Reno is cool to visit, however, living is not a very good idea, especially to those who are weak minded due to the gambling, drinking and drugs and of course for men the good looking women around especially since brothels are legal here too.
This is actually a Silver Certificate, the US Government issued Currency backed by silver instead of Gold for a short time. The difference in the currency is highly noticeable by the RED ink on the front of the bills.
