Oh, I got excited thinking about clues to this lovely piece and didn't ask my questions: Will you please show a bottom picture, one from the back and a side one? What is it made of? Does it work? Have you thought of any clues yet? LOL
I do not know how to add more photos :( how ever the is a small wind Up clock that I found when I was a kid in an old Cotten plantation in Augusta Georgia when I lived there no one had lived at that place since my nanny had been a kid so I'm guessing it must be old I've kept it in a box I guess maybe it takes batteries somehow to make the wind up thing work but I've never studied it I found a pretty jewelry box dated 1843 at the same time sitting right next to it
