Very beautiful trinket box looks like ivory but not sure was my,mother in laws

It looks like Soapstone with shell inlay, I have a trinket box and an incense burner like that. Ivory wouldn't be so dingy looking, it would be more white and have a bit of a polished look to it, I used to have an ivory pendant, that thing sat on my dresser for years untouched and still looked that way.

I agree with aquamorinemartindale. I too have some soapstone with the shell inlay it looks very much like the pieces I have and mine is soapstone.
