The listing, Old Carved Bone Bird Brooch has ended.

It kinda looks like wood but I'm almost certain its bone. It doesn't feel like wood and it doesn'tssound like wood when you tap on it. This is a very old hand carved piece. Hope you all enjoy!!

Bone has grain in it just like wood but a completely different feel. Even though this has a lacquer or varnish finish you can see the grooves in it where the person had carved it. Wood would be smooth because you can sand it down flat but it takes a lot more time and pressure to get the grooves out of bone. I assure you this piece is bone!
