It's because of the hook part of the lanyard. The postal workers would most likely consider it over 1/4 inch, therefore a small package. Cost of that would be $2.32. Tracking costs $1.05. The rest is for packaging materials and paypal fees

I agree that it seems high...but I really just converted the shipping fee based on the amazon cards auctions, they seem to be around $1 for 5,000 credits nowadays

And I'm probably only going to find it for full price or in Japanese...so not likely that I'd list it
