this is an authentic japanese jewelry box I got when I lived in japan in 1998 or 1999, the carvings are cork and covered by glass. the jewelry box plays its a small world when you open the bottom drawer. and the top opens to hold rings and other jewelry.
Questions & Comments
Nice auction. Where did you live when you were in Japan? I was in Yokohama for high school, but that was just a "few" years before you were there. I would venture to say it was a "few" years before you were a twinkle in your daddy's eye :) Fanned you for several reasons! Thanks
I went to high school there about 13 years ago. I went to kadena on oki, I went back when I was in also to main land and oki, it was nice being able to drive off base. Have to say I miss it. if I could learn japanese and just go back and live I would.
I have thought I would like to go back, but I know it has changed so much I wouldn't recognize anything and I would be disappointed. Went on a "round robin" to Okinawa and Taiwan...I was much more impressed with Oki than Taiwan. I understand that they have filled in and where we used to live on the ocean it is now 5 miles inland. And my high school that was in Yokohama was moved to Yokosuka, so that is no more. No, I think I will live with my memories and remember how it was (OMG..I just figured it out) 50 years ago. I think I just aged after counting up how many years it has been. Excuse me...I left my walker in the other room!!! And my wrinkles just grew....argh!
haha, yeah It changed just over a period of 10 years. but it was more in the style of the clothing than the areas. some of the businesses I liked were gone but I found new ones to frequent, one thing I loved was the stationary shops that they had over there you cvhould never find that over here. and then there was one store if I could go back I would it had stationary and puzzles and all kinds of stuff.
