Description
The listing, Greg Maddux signed National League Baseball with COA has ended.
This awesome baseball is personally signed by Hall of Fame baseball pitcher Greg Maddux. It's signed on the "sweet spot", and comes with a certificate of authenticity. Best known as an Atlanta Brave, Greg also played for the Cubs, Dodgers and Padres. He holds a career win/loss record of 355-227. He is an eight time All-Star. He played for the World Champion Braves in 1995. He won four Cy Young Awards, eighteen Gold Glove Awards, three National League Championships, 4x ERA Champion. Maddux is the only pitcher in MLB history to win at least 15 games for 17 consecutive seasons. He won more games than any other pitcher in the 90s, and is 8th on the ALL TIME career wins list. This ball will make an amazing gift. It will be shipped in an archive quality ball cube to keep it beautiful.
Questions & Comments
You might want to search out more about stan, there is alot more than just that one article, he has done alot more than just internet and mail order. just a fyi
I still believe the autographed ball and certificate of authenticity both authentic, in spite of information that has come to light through the dealings of Stanley Fitzgerald. It's unfortunate that greed can turn a person to forge items. My friend Tilly's comments about the ball and how it was obtained and the photograph I saw, lend believability to the authenticity. I will however, gladly honor your request for a refund if you are top bidder.
Im sorry but a picture does not prove anything. and i know the steve avery is legit i had it checked out. but i just want my points returned if i win, that is only fair. i will still bid on your auctions because i know you will do the right thing. god bless
This autograph is also legit, and the COA is also legit. Stan the Man got involved in some shady stuff apparently, but this COA was issued in the autograph line at a card show, not through internet or mail order.
Well i know no one is going to outbid me now because the signature is worthless without a coa, i am going to request the return of my points you should clearly delete this auction because what you promised is a scam. that coa is a fraud. i am sorry i honestly believe you didnt know but without the coa i would have never bid this high, nor would have anyone else.
Thought about hiding these comments so the auction wouldn't be tainted, but I have nothing to hide. I am honest, and I didn't forge anything, and this COA is authentic in spite of anything Stan the Man got involved in later.
COA's are a relatively new practice in sports collecting. Just an added layer of security. It's unfortunate that some unscrupulous people forge them. Most signatures obtained from athletes are NOT documented by a COA. Absence of a COA doesn't make an autograph worthless.
I obtained this ball from my friend Tilly Oslin. It was in her grandsons collection. Her grandson was killed in a car accident in 2011. She told me that her grandson obtained it directly from Greg Maddux at a baseball card show in Atlanta that was promoted by Stan the Man Sports collectibles in 1995 or 96. There is a picture of the grandson in a handshake with Greg, which I am trying to obtain a copy of. I was unaware of any counterfeit autograph story involving Stan the Man, but I do believe this autograph to be authentic because of the photo which I have personally seen.
Stanley Fitzgerald also promoted many celebrity shows with athletes over the years. He may have committed crimes, but it doesn't make this autograph any less authentic.
i have sent you a private message, i need to know if you knew about it, if i dont get a response i am going to file a complaint with listia for refund of points i have on this auction and the steve avery ball i won from you also. this is straight up fraud.
this will make my hubby a very happy man, such a small price to pay!!!! and such a joy to be a part of. and yes listia is fun!!! its people like you who also make it fun and exciting as well. your awesome!!!! god bless
I am not sure why it's not dated. When I promoted celebrity shows, all of our autograph tickets were dated with the location of the show also. My show guests were Henry Aaron, Bob Gibson, Brooks Robinson, Mark McGwire, Duke Snider, Harold Reynolds, Dave Valle, Willie Mays, Harmon Killebrew, Gaylord Perry, Don Larsen, Warren Spahn, Johnny " Blue Moon " Odom, and Portland Trailblazers Lloyd Neal and Larry Steele.
Didn't personally get the autograph from Maddux myself. That's the only way to ever be certain. But I got it from a trustworthy source that had no reason to lie about it.
For sure, it's like a matched set. Although either piece stands alone beautifully. Very cool, it's fun to see enthusiasm. That's what makes Listia fun.
Yes, the winning bidder will receive the actual Certificate of Authenticity issued by Stan the Man Sports Collectibles of Caldwell, NJ. ( Stan Fitzgerald / Owner ) There is a photo of this certificate in my listing here on Listia.
