Do you want measurement from root to leaf or soil to leaf? I add extra soil to keep them hydrated. I'll measure a few, please let me know which measure you would prefer.

They do. Watermelon are pretty hardy. I'm not familiar with Florida weather but watermelon love hot weather and harvest in the Summer. I can say it takes between 65 - 90 days after sowing. These seeds were started 4/23, indoors. I've already transplanted mine and they are doing wonderfully. It seems Florida is a zone 10. You should be fine but I'm just a green thumb and not a master gardener. Might want to inquire at your local greenhouse/grower. Best of luck and ty for the inquiry.

8 should be fine. Make sure to get them in some nutritious dirt and if it is cold where you are you may consider putting them indoors until it warms up. Then take them outside about a week before planting to harden them. Then plant in your fruit garden :-) Best of luck.

I didn't see a response so I measured from the bottom of the stem to the top of the stem. The height is approx. 1 inch tall. Some are already starting the second set of leaves...I did not dig those ones up :-)
