The listing, ~>》1700/1800's Abandoned Homestead《<~ has ended.

So this is a little different and I wasn't sure what category to list this in, Antiques, collectibles,or crafts. At the time that I collected these pieces though I had an artistic vision of creating a mixed media artwork using photos of the site in conjunction with the artifacts I'd gathered there. I'd envisioned a beautiful yet slightly unsettling display. Unfortunately all the pictures I had took at the site that day were corrupted (strangely enough the pictures were fine until I got home) But enough with the creep factor. These were predominantly surface finds, resulting from kicking around some leaves and scouring along the cellar hole walls. There are a few decorative pottery shards, some clay pipe stems (the cigarette butts of a time long before cigarettes), some type of gears (possibly from a clock?), an iron horse (half) toy or decorative (?), and some sort of small ceramic top. Maybe someone here can repurpose these little relics into some steam punk accessory or other artistic creation. Feel free to ask questions. Best of luck, and I do ship free within the U.S.

**original posting didn't have the claypipe bowl, I had forgot to add it to the lot because I had it in my shadowbox. Did originate at same homesite though.

No I'm sorry, there are no photos with the auction. Unfortunately the actual pictures from the site were all lost. The photo by the stream nearby was the only picture that looked normal when I got home and subsequently went on my Facebook cover. The other pictures were all extra grainy and offcolored. I no longer have those :( The photos of the celler hole here are fantasy/manipulated ;-)

These items may have had a strange past. I've see old keys posted here on listia that did have weirdness written all over it.

I agree, but that's where the intrigue is. If objects could speak, oh what stories they could tell.

Itd be something to think about. The horse and gear pices I could repurpose for sure. The picture thing is rather strange.

In pic 11, I saw a bride with someone else in white also; like perhaps what would have been a double wedding, in the distance. I saw no faces in pic 13. The house was abandoned because the Yankees burned it down. That was a common practice during Civil War days. These relics date back to then, if they really came from that cellar site. The ceramic pieces are great for a mosaic. I'm almost positive that the gears fit into the back side of the horse; and was some child's toy. The pipe would have probably belonged to the father in the family. The pipe was probably broken by one of the yankee soldiers that helped to torch the place. All kinds of horrible things happened to the people that lived there. That is why the pictures are eerie. The acts of the yankee soldiers were DEPLORABLE to the Southern families that lived there. There is so much more to this story that has not been told because all the belongings to them, have not been found or uncovered. Time and weather covers up everything by making dirt and mulch fill-in everything. Good luck with your auction. LOL, you used the word, 'repurpose'. Back in those days, there were a multitude of things that got repurposed. A bottle that originally contained medicine, or bitters or the like, were often repurposed as a whiskey bottle, for moonshine or liquor. =D As I said, good luck with your auction. This is a very good one. The ceramic lid/top was probably to the sugar bowl; which from the looks of that lid, was probably broken. =)

I just saw the bride in pic 13!!!! And, if you look closely, right into her eyes, they are NOT all-white, like the first appearance gives. Her eyes were a GORGEOUS Blue!!! Also, it appears to be the sunlight; but, where her veil would have attached to the top middle of her head, is actually jewelry BLING!!! Her face resembles a doll's because in that time period, the ladies wore wax over the face powder that they put on. If a lady got too close to the fireplace in the wintertime, the wax would start melting. That is how we got the phrase, "Your face is melting." She was GORGEOUS!!! Very young, too. WOW!!! =D

Again, good luck with your auction. =D

Love the impromptu back story, very creative. Watch out for my next auction. A few ancestors looking to be adopted. Would love to see their stories come to life in the comment section ;-)
