The listing, Antique Sterling Ruby Ring with Victorian Scroll Design! has ended.
This is a stunning antique/vintage sterling silver ruby ring with a gorgeous Victorian scroll design. I won this ring on here years ago and it needs a good home! The original listing says its a size 6.5 but to me it definitely fits more like a 7. In the last picture I have it next to a size 7 ring only for reference and the other ring is NOT included in this auction. The stamp is worn and it is a little hard to see from pictures but clearer in person that it is stamped 835. I am by no means a jewelry expert but after a little research found that "The stamp "835" imprinted on silver is the code for silver items produced in the countries of Belgium, Austria, the Netherlands, Germany and Portugal. Traditionally the standard of sterling silver purity is 0.925, although some countries had different set standards in the late 19th century and early 20th century. Silver from certain countries was imprinted with a number lower than 0.925 due to an assay tax that had to be paid. While marked differently, the silver in these situations still had a purity level of 0.925". From another source: "835 is a standard predominantly used in Germany after 1884." Again I am no expert just sharing what information I could find since the original listing had very little. I'm sorry I will not lower starting bid, days and no GIN. Listia verified addresses only. Thank you so much and happy bidding!
