It has a split band. When the two ends are touching, it is a size 8 1//2. It can be pulled apart for a larger size, or you can put the ends side by side (slightly twisted) and push it together for a smaller size. I hope I explained that clearly. LOL!

its not a 'fixed' band (by fixed, i mean a solid, completely closed band), its an adjustable ring (like it can be size 8 1/2 or you can squeeze it together and make it a smaller size)?
