these are shipped bare root I cut the tops so when the plant gets to you it has a chance to establish its roots before leafing out. this smells wonderfull especially when mowing if you have a moist area in yard it great . it does not need constant water but likes it moister than most plants. but i grow some right in with other garden vegitables and herbs.
