The listing, 2009 Topps Legends of the Game TED WILLIAMS (Red Sox) Insert has ended.
Arguably the best all-around hitter in the history of baseball, Williams collected MVP votes in 18 of his 19 MLB seasons, missing only a season when injuries limited him to 6 games; a year later, he collected votes despite playing only 37 games (he hit .407 in those games). The last player to have a .400 batting average over a full season (.406 in 1941), Williams batted an amazing .344 for his career, winning 6 batting titles and 4 home run titles. He led the league in OPS an amazing 10 times and holds the MLB record for career on-base percentage with .482. He won Triple Crowns in both 1942 and 1947, and MVP awards in 1946 and 1949.
