Description

The listing, A True Antique ~ 1lb Marmalade Crock has ended.

This crock dates back to late 1800s - early 1900s.

It is roughly 4 1/2 inches high by 3 inches wide. It held 1 pound of Marmalade.

Keiller & Sons Dundee Marmalade was the first commercially made marmalade. Made in London.

The lettering is embossed (indented) into the crock then painted. It isn't just painted on.

This will cost at least $8 to ship. I will split the cost with you. If you use the GIN, I will ship for FREE.

If this does not go here it will not be relisted. It will go to eBay, Thanks for looking.

Who's leg you trying to pull? That dates to 1960's-70's as my father bought that orange Marmalade all the time and kept art pencils in the empty jars

You might wabt to recheck your facts. Although they did sell under that name the later jars were different. Actually Keiller & Sons sold out in 1920 was no longer made in London. PLUS after more research the "c" under the wreath dates this to 1900 exactly.

Also the 60s-70s crack had a "thread" around the rim to seal the marmalade with a twist off lid. The earlier crocks did not have this as it had a corked wooden lid.

The last picture I added is of the newer jar/crock. Notice the updated font and style and the tin screw on lid. The one I have could NOT in any way have been sold in the 60s or 70s as there are NO ingredients listed (other than oranges) and NO nutrition info of any kind. Which are now required by LAW, but were not in the early 1900s.

You have 7 days to pay after auction is over per Listia rules. I will be in no huge hurry. I am pretty easy going for the most part. LOL

You know the London rules for listing ingredients?
Jun 2nd, 2015 at 7:51:28 PM PDT by
Original
It was made in London - SOLD in the U.S. So if sold in the U.S. same rules no matter where it is made.

Sorry No I do not have the wood and cork top. This one DOES NOT have a screw on top. I was just addressing that and showing a newer one in pictures as one person said this was sold in the 1970s, which it was NOT.
