What do they taste like other than sweetness? They look like blue cucumbers. Do they taste at all like that or like melon?

Do they grow as a bush or tree, and do they need alot of sun or can they grow in shade or partial sun? I have alot of trees in my yard but it would be nice to have something interesting that I can grow here.

See note I added to auction, it was too much to add to your response. Hope it helps. :-)

Thanks! Looks like it might grow in a part of my front yard or one section of my back yard that gets sun part of the day! Even if the fruits are relatively tasteless they would be interesting to look at as an ornamental.

One other question; do you start them in a pot or are they easy enough to start right in the ground?

I start everything in good quality seed starting mix in pots. I don't trust that things will get into the seeds in the ground, also I hate it when I plant seeds in the ground and cut worms or other insects eat the seedlings after they emerge. I go for the pot method. :-)

Thanks. Yes, I hate cutworms too. When I used to have enough sun for vegetables they used to kill my cucumber plants by cutting right through the main stem.

It looks like these eventually develop a hard covering like tree bark but I don't know how long it takes before it's at that stage, so I'll leave it in the pot for awhile.
