Description

The listing, 5,000 New LR44 Watch Batteries Good for Projects - Free Shipping has ended.

Amazon is selling these at much more than I paid for them, see: http://www.amazon.com/SUNCOM-LR44-Batteries-pointers-electronics/dp/B004HJRNQE. However this is still the stupidest purchase I have ever made. I thought I would use them for projects like "Throwies" which are LED taped to rare earth magnets and watch batteries, see: http://graffitiresearchlab.com/projects/led-throwies/.

That's a cute idea, but I had already done that long ago and no new projects were coming up. So these 10,000 batteries I got for next to nothing were a source of nagging to throw away from the female authority in the house. Well I hope you have a project for them.

They are very heavy, so be sure you have something you can use them for or be sure you are patient enough to wait and sell them off piecemeal at a glacial rate...Or find someone you don't like to pass them off to.

I will free ship them in a Priority Mail flat rate box, so shipping won't be too bad because you can load up to 70 lbs in the boxes.

P.S. - I just spot checked one and it goes into the green for battery goodness.

Wow. You got them at like what, 5 per cent?! I thought I had a good deal at about a dime a piece. O.o
I just bought some LED's and batteries (without a specific use...). Seeing this throwies thing makes me wanna go buy some of those magnets to now. Thanks for sharing lol.

Yeah it's a cute idea. Especially using 200 of them to write messages on your refrigerator during the holiday season or for parties.

Do you need the magnets to make them light up or just to stick?

Just to make them stick. You tape one lead of the LED to the positve side of the battery and the other lead to the negative and the LED lights up. It doesn't matter which lead from the LED you tape to negative and which you tape to the positive. I used Scotch tape. They weren't very pretty unless your in the dark where of course they are pretty. I think for the LED lights I had some colors were brighter than others. I think yellow was always dim for some reason with the same power. Maybe LEDs have improved since then...

I paid about $20 for 10,000 including shipping. These links aren't broken:

No, I'm not including the magnets and LED lights. You can get small rare earth magnets and LEDs in color variety packs on Ebay and Amazon.

I'm not including the magnets and LEDs because I gave them away :-(.
