I have bid on this but are you sure its from the 60s? Has this been altered because I don't think they had this kind of clasp back then but I could be wrong?
I am 99.9% sure. This was my Aunts barrette. She loved using her hands to make her "Hippie" things! If you look closely, you can see that she used sinew to wrap it with. Not like they do today, with fake leather or suede. I just saw your other message. I don't know about the clasp. I only know what I wrote above. I'll do some googling! Thanks for your questions!
I really do appreciate your questions! It helps me learn! I googled, read and googled some more. So now I've learned a "bit" more about barrettes and clasps! You're most likely right, and when looking more closely at it, the wrapped edges may not even be sinew?! If the winner would like their credits back instead of the barrette, I will do so with no questions asked. Even at my age...I'm still learning something new each day! Such is life! Thanks again for your questions!
You can still buy real sinew in at multiple craft stores today! Im not knocking this item ( it is VERY NICE and real leather and hand made) or trying to be rude just that these clasps were not made in the sixties =} Thanks
I hope I didn't sound (read) rude...never my intention! Very sorry if it appeared that way. If you're the winner, I'll make it up to you by sending something extra.
