Hi! According to the back of the package it says; The DEER ALERT animal warning whistle radiates sound waves that will safely warn most types of animals of your oncoming vehicle. Passengers and pets inside your vehicle will not hear the high frequency sound.
Hope this helps! Although I find it weird that pets inside the vehicle can't hear it? But it does seem to help! I've never hit a deer, and it appears that the deer can hear me coming!
