Description
The listing, 75+ Columbine Seeds has ended.
This is for 75+ columbine seeds. They were collected from my mother's garden. The plants they came from were a mix of the light and dark purple colored variations pictured above, but because they were fertilized in the wild, I can't guarantee that all of them will be that coloration.
Columbines are easy to grow in full sun or partial shade. They need soil that drains well, but stays moist, but otherwise are very tolerant and will give you beautiful flowers for multiple years.
Questions & Comments
How long does it take to grow? I sit too late to plant now? And will they grow in pots outside?
Generally, you want to plant them in the spring, so it may be too late this year. Though, if you start them in pots, that shouldn't be a problem. They generally don't flower until their second year, anyways. And yes, they grow very well in pots.
They are pretty tolerant of snow; they are native to Colorado. If the temperature is fluctuating rapidly between freezing and thawing, it's good to put some straw or mulch over them to protect them.
