The listing, 5 Foot X 8 Foot Deep Black Worsted Wool Fabric Remnant has ended.

How does one take an interesting picture of a large piece of black fabric? LOL!

I draped it over my bedroom door in the picture to show just how large the piece of fabric is, it's 62" x 99" (just over 5' x 8') and is heavy and bulky, about 2.5 pounds. I will offer free shipping if bidding goes high enough.

This is from a box I found after a recent move. I must have forgotten I live in California back in 2007 and ordered a bunch of wool fabric! I can't remember why...

My delusion is your gain since it's coming up on winter.

Is the fabric light weight wool, medium weight or kind of heavy weight?

I don't know much about wool - I live in California and we don't have much call for wool here.
On my receipt - there are some cryptic notations that might reveal this - they are wc-1 #wr-3 - I've been trying to make heads or tells of what they mean. It's worsted - I don't even know what that means. I'd say it's a little lighter than a denim in weight of fabric - does that help? =D

I don't have a postage scale, so I'm unsure of the exact weight (but am planning on acquiring one soon) - I tried to fold it just so and fit it into the USPS priority mail small flat rate box, but it's a little too big. At my guesstimation for weight at 2.5 pounds, it's going to be around $11.00 to that zip code. I'd likely send in the medium flat rate box for $10.95 unless parcel post was cheaper, but they look to be about the same price. =D

Wish you had put a GIN up :-( There is a website for the postal service that gives exact price. The bidders can check for themselves since you gave the weight. $11. is a very realistic price. Since you gave the dimensions and the weight I would say it is a light weight wool pile. Do you know if this is 100% wool though or if it is a mixed blend? I am very interested, how has it been stored? In the house, attic, storage unit? ty

I'm brand new on Listia and the GIN option is not available to me as yet. I believe it's 100% wool. I don't remember buying it, nor have much experience with wool - so details are sketchy. =D
Until last week the fabric had been stored in sealed plastic bag inside of the original shipping box which was very well sealed - I had a hard time getting into it - all edges of the box were taped shut like twice. It was stored in my garage for most of the time I had it - since 2007. It may have spent a couple of months in a storage unit during my moves - but I moved twice in a year - so - again - details are sketchy - it could have spent all of it's time in a garage. Since opening the box, it's inside my house. =D

It just occurred to me - that I really don't know where it spent it's early life. I found it in the garage during the first move about one year ago. The receipt is the second picture that was inside of the box - and is all I really know about the fabric. It's very itchy - which says wool to me, but not having much experience with it, I'm certainly no expert. It seems like cloth one would use to make a suit or pants out of, seems a little heavy for a shirt to me. Was thinking the size might make for a nice quilt back - it certainly would make for a warm quilt. =D

I would think it would be ideal for a quilt batting, the inside layer, since it is 'itchy' it would not be good for clothing. It needs to be felted first and then used as a batting. It would be great for someone living in one of the northern states. lol The reason I was so concerned is that many natural fabrics tend to 'dry rot' if they are stored in 'hot' places. They are a natural fibre and need to be in a house. (consider the Smithsonian and how they store their quilts). Since you haven't noted this as an issue with the fabric I assume this is not an issue or you would have tossed it anyway. tx for the info
