¼ Dollar "Washington Quarter" (Bicentennial)

The American Revolution began in 1776. The 200th anniversary of this event in 1976, a.k.a. the American Bicentennial, was widely celebrated. All quarter dollars, half dollars, and dollars were struck with a special obverse for that year. These were the first of America's "modern" circulating commemoratives, and currently also the only ones not to be part of a long multi-year series.

is that suppose to mean that currently its not part of the multi-year series, not sure what you mean by that, can you please explain more about this one, like would it be good for the collector to keep or is it not in much value for it as its not part of the series ??

well, its common and can still be found in circulation if your lucky, but the comment that its "not part of a long multi-year series" refers to I think, that they where only made in 1976... unlike other countries... also refers to all quarter dollars, half dollars, and dollars were struck with a special obverse for that year. (other words you will not find a quarter with an eagle on the obverse like it was on a 1975 and 1978... thus the term "series"... not to be confused with the term "proof set" which are much more valuable and made out of silver, in which case i would have a much, much higher start bid and the word "silver" and "set" in the description.

yes, i think it is a good addition to a collection, if you are a collector.. as they are getting harder to find in good shape.... if you are trying to buy a house with it, not gonna happin :)

the description i got on here was from here....http://en.numista.com/catalogue/pieces56.html

"unlike other countries"... is wrong..oops...... didn't proof read before i posted... "different from the regular run/design of coins coming out of the mint" is what i should have said
