It's a light weight external DVD reader/writer that works well with Netbooks.

OK,I know I am going to sound so dumb here, but what it a netbook? And does this copy DVDs?

The first Netbook was made by the company that makes this drive, Asus. They are mini-laptops. People use them to basically surf the internet and look at webmail. The idea is that with Google online versions of Word, Excel and PowerPoint, you no longer need to store files locally. So these often don't have3 big hard drives, but that's changing now too and they are putting thin drives in them too. At any rate with the small size, there is no room for a DVD drive, so people need an external drive like this one. Some people think this is the most stylish one you can buy so it commands a premium price. It copies DVDs and is like any DVD burner. You can hook it up to a regular PC if you need to no problem. It's just a light weight burner just as good as any other external or internal DVD burner.

Yeah, but this thing is not industrial, it might be higher quality than the cheapo burner that comes with most machines, however. I think Bootleggers use dedicated copying machines that I think start at $500.
