Description

The listing, Rare Old Coins Valued at over 100.00 has ended.

Ok Listia people, I am trying this out one time to see how many credits I can get on Listia....If I just brought this stuff to a coin shop I would walk out with at least 100.00!!!!!....These are coins collected from when my Grandfather was in the Navy and served overseas, and when my Father was in Vietnam, and other places.....Here is the coin list...........The largest coin, in a wrapper, says Chez Paree on it...100.....On the back is an Arabian looking female dancing. I looked it up on e-bay and it is selling for 17.50 plus shipping.......One coin is from 1938, from Columbia, on the back is a big V with ivy, says centavos. On e-bay it is selling for 12.00-15.00.....2 Australian 1967, 20 piece, 10.00-15.00 each on e-bay........1 Australian 1968, 20 piece, 10.00-15.00 on e-bay.......1 Australian 1968, 5 piece, 5.00 on e-bay.......1 Australian 1946, penny, Georgivs vi, 5.00 on e-bay.......Australian 2 cent piece, 1.00 on e-bay.......A Honduras 1932, 10 centavos, worth 10.00 on e-bay.......A Honduras 1939, 1 centavo, worth 2.00-30.00 on e-bay........A Honuras 1932, 5 centavos, 4.00 on e-bay......A Honduras 1939, 2 centavos, 4.00-25.00 on e-bay..........The total value of these coins and this auction is between 100-136.00......If I get credit screwed for this collection it is the last time I will try and put anything of real value on here....So please bid it up to a fair amount!!!!!!!!!!!!

You have to understand that ebay always asks more than what they are worth dear. You need to get coin books to get the real values. Ebay is not always right. Some of those dealers there are rip offs. Trust me, I have found that out the hard way and I have been using them for YEARS!

I know lots of dealers that say they dump the stuff that their customers will not buy there it is the worst place to buy coins and they have another problem to you run a big risk of fakes there and the others are right if you go to most any coin shop these are redaly available but they are in great condition so they are of value just not that much

E-bay is not a good reference when researching values because you see what people are asking for items. And even when looking at the selling prices it isn't easy to judge because honestly things aren't selling too well online right now. More people decide to list items here for credits to spend on $50 gift cards when they know their $50 coin is only going to sell for $25 right now. (Just an example and doesn't apply to all cases) It is a nice auction and the information provided is not useless however because it could give someone a ball park idea if the numbers are right, so thank you for providing it. It would be nice if a foreign coin expert would post their honest opinion for this auction without the trash talk.

BTW Twodeep. My suggestion to you is to block Kyle. He is going to do this every time you try to have a nice auction like this. If you block him you will save yourself a lot of headaches and stress. and he will not be able to ruin everyone else's fun. This is a great place to share things and stories and friendship. Some people are just hell bent on being kill joys and he seems to be one of them. I for one prefer to have fun and enjoy being with the great people of Listia. You are one of the greats and I thank you for this auction. Block him and enjoy yourself.

Twodeepthinker, you do have a nice auction going here! You are very lucky to be able to get such great help from so many knowledgeable fellow Listians! Truthfully, there is a book value for these coins, but there is also a personally value to these coins as well... It's nice to hear the stories that go along with the different coins, kind of like dealing with antiques... some thing may appear to be worth almost nothing, but then the stories unfold & all of a sudden the thing is valueable/sought after! :) My son would like these coins for his newly started collection... would you be able to ship to Canada as well? I have PayPal... Stay positive, look past the negativity! :)

Two deep is giving this stuff away. What is your problem? If he was trying to rip you off he would be on ebay selling it. Kyle you are nothing but a person who is bored with his own life and has nothing better to do than to go around looking to stir up a fight for no good reason. If you can't say anything nice than don't say anything at all. No one said you have to bid on his things and no one said you have to stay on his page either so leave and don't come back.
Twodeep, don't let him get to you. He does this at every auction he has an interest in because he is trying to discourage others from bidding. He figures if he can get others to not bid then he will get your items for less that way. If I were you I would pay no attention to him. This is a great auction and I am in on it! I have fanned you

Kyle BACK OFF! Don't you have anything better than to harrass people? Why don't you go to ebay and bother the people there when they list their stuff for the prices they are listing them for. They are the rip offs!

The king george penny in 2008, according to the 35th official edition of the standard catalog of world coins is rare and only 240,000 made! the value for this coin in the catalog-just like scotts catalog for stamps- is anywhere from $42.50 in fine condition, $75 in vf, $265 in extra fine, and $1500 in uncirculated!! the rest are basically pocket change except maybe the gambling one. i cant see the coins well enough to judge grades and even if i could i'm no judge. but even in just ok condition i would think this one should be worth at least $20. mind you only the 1945 and 1946 coins are worth anything. the rest are pocket change too apparently.

No problem i love old coins and hope it does well but i listed coins before and was complicated. I sent someone the coin they won and they said they never got it so i had to send another one. As far as i know they got both and never said anything.

I found out about the chez paree coin that is in the wrapper......The Chez Paris was a supperclub/speakeasy/illegal gambling supperclub in Chicago from the 1930's-1950's........The 100 coin was literally 100 dollars used to gamble at that place during that era....It's honest value is between 15.00-20.00!!!!!....No wonder how I got it.....I grew up in Chicago and so, like I have said all along...this stuff was passed down from me by my Dad and Gramps...must have been my Gramps that went gambling there.....some nostalgic history there!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well thanks David......I can't figure what all the fuss is about...These are just some old coins....I had from my Dad and Granddad......I am NOT a coin collector so I went on e-bay to see what they were selling for....You would think that I am trying to steal someones wife or something!!!!!!!!

yep, Ebay is not a good place to get a value for your coins. that is just what some people are ASKING AND HOPING TO GET! NOT WHAT THEY ARE WORTH! I have a little over a day but I have a "2008 standard catalog of world coins dated 1901-2000" so I can look them up and give a real good ballpark figure. It wont be exact because I cant see the coins personally, but it will be close.
