Another antique piece where I just don't know where to start! I'm thinking that this cameo is even older than even I originally thought it was the more I look at it!
It definitely needs cleaned and then a vibrant living piece will emerge with many, many, MANY stories to tell!
Keeping in mind that in no way, shape, or form am I an expert at first I was going to call the pretties rhinestones and be done with it.
BUT the more I looked with my loupe I just didn't think anyone would go to the trouble of what I was seeing.
The details of the faceting of each center stone around the cameo is intricate. Surroundind the center stones are tiny, tiny chips. Yes, I'm thinking could be diamonds.

The most baffling part to me is that with the loupe I can see some kind of stone shining in the recesses of the dark areas.
Unsure of composition of cameo or black material around it.
Pendant is 1 1/2" across

IN FULL DISCLOSURE: One of the stones has fallen out. While I have not been able to find it yet, I don't feel that this occurence really affects the value so I am leving auction starting bid and GIN as it stands now.

Condition: Excellent
