thats what i thought "gold filled" would be also, actually "gold filled" is the same process as gold plated except that there is 2-4 times the amount of real gold on top of either brass or copper. the jewelers will buy gold filled jewelry to melt down and they wont buy plated jewelry because there is not enough gold on plated jewelry to melt down, where as gold filled jewelry is worth it because of the amount of real gold used to "gold fill" the jewelry
