The listing, A Ring Similar to Princess Diana and Kate Middleton's Engagement Ring has ended.
Whatever you think of Prince William’s decision to pass on Princess Diana’s engagement ring to Kate Middleton, there’s no denying that the ring itself is an absolute beauty. The enormous oval deep-blue rock of a sapphire (18 carats, no less) is surrounded by 14 beautiful diamonds all set on a narrow gold band. Prince Charles originally bought the ring from Garrard Jewellers of Mayfair. This is all a bit of a delightfully royal scandal because the ring wasn’t made bespoke for Diana, nor was it even unique. Rather it was on sale to the general public, so any old commoner like you or I could buy one! Whilst it cost 28,500 pounds when Prince Charles originally bought it, its estimated worth now is a rather royal 250,000 pounds; this is down not just to inflation, but its connection to the Princess.
