Glad you didn't post the photo of the king first, I get tired of looking at kings and queens on foreign coins, they just don't do much for me anymore. LOL
Thanks. See these listed in other auction sites like this. What bothers me is that I see a lot of "non-collectible" foreign coins listed with current dates. We are prohibited from listed 1960's U.S. coins and you see 1990's and 2000.s foreign coins listed all the time. I don't know why their is so much leeway of foreign coins.
Interesting! I did not know (although it makes sense when you think about it), that Listia prohibits US coins from the 1960s forward to be listed because they are not considered "collectible". Is this what you're saying? I've seen lots of US coins newer than 1960 listed, especially the Kennedy halves, state quarters, etc.
Meant 60's in general, not silver coins 1964 and before. This is what listia sent me. Penny-older than 1959,2009. Nickel-older than 1961,2009. Dime-older than 1965,2009. Quarter-older than 1965,2009-2012 Territory and National Parks series. Half Dollar-Older than 1970,1970D,1776-1976 Bicentennial Kennedy(Non copper or uncirculated),1987P,1987D, Newer than 2001 Dollar coin-Older than 1979, Sacagawea newer than 2002,Pressidential newer than 2012. This was sent to me on March 16, 2015. Not sure if changes have been made since then.
Wow, that's pretty specific. I had no idea. Same thing on foreign coins would probably knock out the Euros, which wouldn't hurt my feelings, but I know they are interesting to some people. They look fake to me, but I'm kind of old fashioned.
Burned me up when I listed some Souvenir Uncirculated Susan B Anthony Sets and they took them down. These sets were only issued by the U.S. mint as Uncirculated coins in cellophane. I think all of the SBA's should be allowed to be listed. They are of historical significance (only U.S. coin with image of an important female person) for collectors 1979-1981,1999.
I am interested in the Listia comment about what is and what isn't collectible. They obviously don't know anything about numismatics. I wonder if there is anyway or anyone that we (the coin collecting community) can talk to help educate them or have you tried this. All presidential should be collectables because by the mint own admission they (the mint) are only making them to put into sets sold to collectors. In fact they (the mint) stopped circulating the Presidents after 2012 so you should be able to find a 2009 president in circulation where as you won't find a 2015. Since you can't get a SAC except at a coin show or from the mint I am guessing they are collectable too. Seems to me like they are putting Antique rules on coins. Except I have seen some pretty contemporary stuff listed under Antiques. Of course it is their house, their rules. Best of luck with you auction and if you have a contact with listia that I can discuss this policy with I would be interested
