I thought i would start collecting for my kids, but i don't think they are interested in this type of stuff. i have no paperwork on it but my father in law took it to the jewelers for me and he said it was real. i did not have it appraised. this is a raw emerald and he told me that he would never try and cut it because it would shatter??? he said it was great as a collectable

I am watching this. I am a rockhound and I have found one emerald before. I have found lots of sapphires and some rubies as well where I live. Did you guys find this and where at?

I can cut and polish that into about a 15 to 18 K beauty ,, I do this for a hobby..

I have some rubies that size or bigger that I found in a little shop that sold like stones and herbs and stuff for wiccan practitioners... they were only like $3-5 each and I think they had emeralds similar to this as well... a thought for anyone who misses out on this one... best of luck to all =)

I have been into Lapidary a long time my grandfather got me started age 12 ..

the trick is tumble polish it first , look for fractures and cut around them .. a little practice and right equipment anyone can do it : )

the jeweler i took it to said that even though it was genuine he would not try cutting it because of it shattering and ruining it.
