hey Autumne2, I presume you are in California? The plant grows in warm climate... should do fine for you. It would likely grow just fine in the heat of summer regardless of the state. It dies at first frost but reappears each summer. I'm in Florida and is a gorgeous hardy plant. hope this helps. Bruce
