Description

The listing, Dwarf Cavendish Banana *Fruit Bearing* has ended.

This is for 1 live Dwarf Cavendish Banana already rooted in a pot. It is about 8" tall.

The first picture is of the mother plant. You can see the babies popping out at the base of the mother. I transplanted this in April and have waited to ensure that the roots took and that the plant didn't die. The next 2 pictures are of the banana that you will be getting. And the last picture is of another banana in my yard that is fruiting.

The plant will be shipped in it's pots with it's dirt. The reason I am auctioning it now is that it is ready for a bigger pot.

Cavendish Bananas are the type of banana that you buy in the grocery store. The "Dwarf" part of the name refers to the size that the plant will grow, not the size of the fruit. If planted in your yard, they need full sun for 4+ hours a day, planted somewhere they will get lots and lots of water, usually a low part of the yard where the water gathers after a rain. Planted in the ground, this tree will get to be 8 to 10 feet tall. Planted in a pot, like I have, I can restrict the root size, therefore limiting the size of the tree. Mine is about 4' tall in a 5 gallon pot. These are tropical plants and they grow well outside my house year round, but I live in South Florida. If you live in a colder climate, I would suggest to move this plant indoors during colder weather. All of my plants are in pots because I rent, but they are thriving.

I will provide FREE SHIPPING!!! This auction will end next Monday and I will ship the following day. Please provide your Listia verified shipping address. I will ship this USPS Priority so you should have it by Wednesday or Thursday.

If local pickup or GIN is used, I will throw in a couple of extras from my garden including air-plants, christmas cactus, snake plants, or aloe plants. You pick!

I am a trusted seller with 100% positive feedback, so bid with confidence!

Thanks for looking and happy bidding!

Do you have to have both male and female banana trees to produce the fruit for these? I've seen banana trees growing here in Tennessee, but there are always both male and female trees planted together in the same spot. Do these Cavendish bananas have both male and female plants or do both sexes grow on the same plant? Thanks!

No, This is a self-pollinating plant. It says that if you cross-pollinate that it would increase yields, but it isn't required.
