WHITE COTTON
HISTORICAL ~ EASY TO GROW
GREAT FOR KID'S GARDEN!
In use for at least 7,000 years, no other 'global seed' has shaped civilization like the White Cotton Plant.
Interesting Facts:
✔Cotton is actually a Perennial! Gardens in no-freeze zones and/or indoor gardeners can treat White Cotton as a returning perennial or grow it as a beautiful potted house plant near a bright window.
✔The variety "Gossypium hirsutum" constitutes 95% of the cotton grown in the United States and 90% of all cotton grown worldwide.
✔Amazingly, global civilizations isolated from each other, not only grew the fiber for cloth, they independently created the same exact tools, including looms (still used today) necessary to make it into fabric.
✔Cotton made its grand debut in America during colonial Jamestown.
✔The light weight cotton replaced wool clothing worn in layers, making it a welcomed relief from the sweltering heat.
Why not grow a little piece of history in your own back yard! And if you don't have a long growing season, cotton makes a great houseplant!
