I am not sure. I bought it thinking it was for a regular camera memory card but the slot is like twice as wide.

It is not a USB drive. It is a card reader that connects to a computer through USB port. It is for reading some kind of card, but wasn't the right size for my camera memory card. Here are the details from Amazon where I bought it:

(Personally, I think this description is somewhat misleading because the card slot is too wide for my photos card and I think it is a pretty universal sized card.)

no. it reads flash drives and transfers the info to the computer if you don't have one already on your computer.
