The listing, Antique Bank with Unknown Change Inside (No Key) has ended.
While preparing for another semi-large auction on here, (not as big as the previous one), I found this little bank at the bottom of a box marked "cameras" (from a soon finished huge full-estate purchase). There was of course no key, so I spent about an hour with two paper clips attempting to unlock it, since there is change inside. I don't know how to describe the amount, which is why there's a pic showing the weight (in ounces) on here, but based on the sound when shaking it, I'd say it's not a couple of coins and it's not filled, so maybe half way.
You can also open the bottom a little, but it's simply a tease because nothing will come out. I can't even get a glimpse of the inside.
But, what I was able to do is test it, which told me some things. (The buyer will definitely find some change I put in during this process, so at least if it's filled with useless denominations or something, you'll have around $0.50 in change as a consolation prize.)
First, it doesn't register pennies (referring to the counter on the lid). It does register dimes, nickels, quarters. This makes me think it's mostly pennies that are inside, and not gold bullion like I initially imagined.
This is why I'm listing it instead of prying it open. My curiosity has been appeased. Sort of.
While I can't demand the buyer tell me the contents, I'd like to formally request them to do so, should they open it by force or otherwise.
So, you know all I know about it, and if you have questions please ask before bidding.
