To set fruit may take several years. It depends on how fast the plant grows, about 3 years or so if it is constantly kept in optimum growing conditions. This is a semi tropical cacti so it enjoys humidity but can be over watered or kept dry like many other cacti. Thats the best answer I can give you. I have already established plant, so I dont know much about it from seed, only what I've read. I have heard that the fresher the seed the better and essier grow, these came from a fruit I picked and ate a little over a week ago. I even still have the skin of the fruit with a bit of meat and a few more seeds. The seed is THAT fresh! These particular have been soaked to get the pulp off of them. Hope that helps somewhat. Look around online for more specific information. :)

I meant to say it CAN'T be over watered or kept in extreme dry conditions like most other sonoran cacti.
