It's a keepsake, or you burn the wick at the top like a regular candle. It simply has feet on it and says baby's first step.

You don't have the baby walk in the wax for their first steps? Because that's what I was thinking based on what it said on there in little footprints on the packaging and the fact that says babies first steps!

I thought that would burn the babies feet and I was concerned how you would get a baby to walk for the first steps in the wax and had me a little concerned!

No no not at all. It is just a simple candle. No hurting the babies. It's just more of a keepsake or I guess you could light it when they take their first step.
