The listing, Entomology lover's and Antiquarian Decorator's delight has ended.
I don't believe these to be antique but possibly vintage. Either way they may be the perfect accent to your decor or make a nice a gift for that Entomology enthusiast in your life. During the Victorian period a kind of renaissance period took place in which collectors of all walks of life in a show of intellectual prowess and status, would assemble and display small collections of insects, taxidermy, artifacts etc. (Many of these small private collections would eventually become parts of more extensive museum collections). As we have taken a renewed interest in the Vintage and Antiques, small accent pieces such as these add a nice touch to our rustic or Shabby chic shelves, desks, table tops, cloche, shadowboxes etc. This little set of 3 features a Longhorn Beetle, some type of small very colorful Mantis, and a insect with a peculiar appendage projecting from its face. I'll leave it to the winner to figure out the species, I gave you one lol. That's half the fun! These are not new so please refer to the pictures for condition. They are free of any serious damage and i dont see any major scratches that detract from their appeal. I have little kids who of course took a keen interest in the bugs, and little boys love creepy crawleys. So when they weren't hovering over them with the magnifying glass, they would incorporate them in with their blocks. The insects are fully encased in what i believe to be lucite or some similar very hard type of plastic. Shipping in the U.S. is free as always. Feel free to ask questions and leave commentary, I look forward to your feedback. Thank you and happy bidding folks!
