Description
The listing, Native American Pendant??? I really have no clue has ended.
Its made of base metal but has onyx, mother of pearl, and red coral. It took a steady hand for sure!! Its amazing craftsmanship. Please help me with what this could be!! Insect maybe?? Idk!!!
I have read all of your comments here. It's a very unique piece, and auction so thank you for posting it! I do not believe it is Italian. The base metals and style do indicate Indian/Mexican origin. The style is a pretty big give a way to this. My family (grandparents and mother). traveled there yearly long ago, and I have some pieces of Mexican Indian art that are styled this way. I would definitely take it to a museum to just check on it's age. Your previous poster may be right in saying it looks Mayan. Who knows! You might have a genuine historical tiny treasure. Mexico still makes micro mosaics and produces and sells the tiny cut glass (smalti) used in them. It would be worth 30 minutes of your time to get it checked out! Just my opinion, and again, lovely curiosity auction!!! Blessed be!
Thank you I was just basing what I have said off what I found online. Italy still does the micro mosaics as well. Who knows? I listed it so someone else can have something truly original and awesome!! I go after the unique things and that's shat I like to offer. The winner may have a fortune with this piece and I really hope that's the case. I very content with that thought. Even if it was worth a lot I wouldn't take it down. That's for commenting and good luck if you decide to bid.
If you haven't already try and read all the comments and please decide for yourself what you think it is because I honestly don't know. I appreciate your opinion though and I too believe it to be some type of beetle.
They sell these down here in Mexico. It's a bug, the also do frogs. There is suppose to be another loop on the upper arm and it lays in the middle of a chain. It's not beads, it's chips of different stones hammered/inlaid into the bug. Haven't seen one of these in about ten years.. Also haven't visited Mexico in about as long. They are all handmade items.
