Ya it works like ebay... you input your "highest bid" that you are willing to spend and if your bid is larger than the highest bid that someone else made, then it will post it. The site will continue to bid for you until your max bid has been reached -- does that make sense? LOL
It should not keep jacking up your bid, on yourself. I will put in the maximum amt I am willing to bid on an item, and as someone places a bid, it will automatically outbid them by one. But sometimes the bidding goes crazy like last week. I was supposedly the first person to bid on something, and when I did someone suddenly show up as bidding before me! Listia certainly has kinks in it's system. It does work like e-bay, where you put your max bid in and it will automatically bid for you. It's nice when it's late at night and you want to go to bed! :)
According to what I´ve learn it works like on Ebay. And when the time is over for the certain item the highest bidder wins. You can bid way over the last bid. if it says 20 you can bid 100 but it only shows 21 and next one must bid up over the 100 to win. But can be hard as they don´t see what the real bid is. Do I make sense? The winner is the one with highest bid when the time ends and will be notified to contact like in this case me.
I think that is the trick...increase your bid by a decent amount at the very last second to win it. I've done that on ebay. I'll be waiting FOUR days for that on this one. Yikes! Not sure my pea brain is large enough to retain that in my memory bank that long! :D
LOL! I'm just having fun trying to figure it all out, really, I am! I may never get anything up to auction or win any bids, but I'll fill up your wall here until I get this figured out! ;) I wonder if you get any prizes for having the most comments on your auction. I CAN be bought! LOL!
he he, same here and I just lost an acution :-( outbid in the last seconds, well well those things happen. But I think it´s kind of fun anyway :-D You can post as much as you want ;.)
What will be interesting to see is if, at the end of the auction, the winner has to turn over the "maximum" bid or just the amount one point over the next highest bid. Hmmm...
Yup, it is automatically outbidding you because I had already set my "maximum" bid to more than (or as much as) you just now bid. So, you can actually bid...say 200 as your "maximum" bid...and it will leave you as the highest bidder until someone bids 201. But...folks bidding don't KNOW you bid 200, so they keep posting little bids, like 120, 125, 130, etc. and are automatically outbid. Cool, huh?
hat happened to me when i first joined! i was bidding on jewelry n it kept out bidding me no matter what i put .. so i just gave up :( i don't know why it does that, but it's not too fair :( but i swear i only bidded once.
Happened to me in here when I was bidding on here aswell and I could not understand why it did that, but now I do. It should show the amount highest bidder has bid. Would be easier and most fair for everyone.
OK, I think it works like ebay. You can put in much more than the last bid and it will keep adding you to the top until someone bids over THAT amount. I just bid more than 57 (not saying how much. :P ). We'll see how this works.
Aha maybe the mystery is solved. I´m all new to this and have never even bid on anything at ebay so I will keep my eyes and ears open if this is how it works.
No, actually it only shows that you outbid once, but I had bid 53 (was outbid by you), then 55 and was outbid by you again. It only shows the second outbid to put you as the high bidder. I'm sure if I put 56, it would be the same way. I'll test it now to show you what i mean.
OK :-D Somtimes it feels like someone (not just you) are over bidding automatically by one, I have been checking for info how to do that but could not find any.
