Description
The listing, 1806 Dutch East India Duit (VOC) has ended.
1806 Dutch East India Co. Duit or V.O.C. (Veereinigte Oostindische Compagnie). These coins were widely spread throughout the Dutch colonies and trade routes. The Dutch East India Company held a monopoly on trade between the Far East and "the New World" for most of the 17th and 18th century. The Island of Manhattan was supposedly purchased by the Dutch from Natives with a bag of these "VOC" coins, thus they are sometimes referred to as New York Pennies. A very neat coin with an interesting history.
*Also included as a bonus a New England dug mystery copper coin. See pictures!
