Synopsis
A heartbroken songwriter dives into her career providing sick and psychologically wounded patients therapy through music after years of struggling to conceive a child, a futile effort which pried her marriage apart. Zoe Baxter's life opens up again, however, when she falls in love with a female social worker and the two women decide to have a baby of their own. Zoe's ex-husband Max, a born-again Christian, tries to keep the same-sex couple from bringing the frozen embryo he once fertilized to term, however, and Jodi Picoult navigates the complex legal and emotional conflicts that can arise in such a highly charged scenario in her novel SING YOU HOME.

Publisher's Notes
First Line: "One sunny, crisp Saturday in September when I was seven years old, I watched my father drop dead. I was playing with my favorite doll on the stone wall that bordered our driveway while he mowed the lawn. One minute he was mowing, and the next, he was facefirst in the grass as the mower propelled itself in slow motion down the hill of our backyard."
Industry Reviews
"[B]ig emotion, diligent research, legal conflict, and a few twists at the end."
(12/06/2010)
"SING deftly personalizes the political, delivering a larger message of tolerance that's difficult to fault."
(03/04/2011)
"[Picoult] turns the familiar elements into a tender, compassionate examination of what it means when we talk about 'family,' proving that tales of dysfunctional family pathos are not the sole domain of male novelists such as Jonathan Franzen."
