this is similar to a bike chain
looks to be about 8.5 inches long total including the clasp

when you place a bid, the system will use the minimum increment that puts your bid as the top bid, however if someone else has placed a maximum bid higher than yours the system will do the same thing for them, so that whoever has the highest maximum bid will be the highest bidder
