The alligator plant also known as Mother of a Thousand has interesting jagged and pointed "leaves" with eye-catching details. At the end of these "leaves," you will note tiny leaflets. These leaflets fall off creating new plants hence the nickname "Mother of Thousands." This plant is great to naturalize certain cactus garden areas. Do note that if you plant it too near other plants, you will see that its babies like to hop into other containers and grow.

For this reason, keep the alligator plants in their own area. The alligator plants are the "trees" as they are prolific like a forest but very interesting to look at.
I have seen some grow 6 ft.
This is a great plant for beginners. It does bloom a gorgeous display of red flower clusters over time. As it is a succulent, it will need very little water and thrives on neglect. I have them growing out of cracks in the cement. never needs watering..
