Questions & Comments
What is the best way to plant this? Does it need potting in soil, be attached to wood or grown in moss as shown?
I suggest moss or wood tree bark. Don't plant in soil because it will cause rotting. I have mine attached to river wood and secured with some moss. The roots get most of their nutrients from the air so they need to be able too "breathe". Thanks for the question!
Hi Sam, Just wanted to ask about what size will this guy get if it gets to growing? You said to let it set in some plain ole like even green outside green moss or should it be some special type of moss that should be bought? I was just wondering if I do and never know win this I wanted to know how to care for it right.
The parent plant of mine is just over 2 feet in diameter. It is really stunning when it blooms a wonderful red and purple. Any kind of untreated moss is good, but as mine grew I mounted it in a nice piece of dried river wood. If moss is unavailable, I have used a rough cut mulch in a clay pot. It stays cool and moist without rotting. Cheers!
