no it has a battery easily accessed on the back
DC: AG13 (1.5v)
smaller than a dime
Still has the plastic on the display so it might look strange but it is nice and clean and unused.

It works right now with the battery that is in it.

AG13 Button Cell is what the battery says. (I got a screwdriver to open it and realized you don't need one to get to the battery.)
