Cameos have been around since Ancient times and have been made from a huge variety of materials.This Cameo is carved from Cornelian shell (Cypraeacassis Rufa), this Quality of carving is only done by a Master Carver and done by hand.
The setting is Silver with a Rose gold rope design around the bezel. It has a C-clasp style closure and a movable bail, so it can be worn as a pendant or a brooch. It dates circa late 1800's to early 1900's.
